President Al-Assad congratulates Palacios on assuming the presidency in Paraguay  

Asuncion, (ST) – On behalf of President Bashar Al-Assad, Syria’s non-resident ambassador to Paraguay Dr. Sami Salameh congratulated the new Paraguayan President Santiago Peña Palacios on the occasion of assuming the presidency in Paraguay, succeeding President Mario Abdo Benitez.

This came during Ambassador Salameh’s meeting with President Palacios in the presence of Vice-President Pedro Aliana, and the new Paraguayan Foreign Minister Ruben Ramires Lescano.

The Syrian ambassador, accompanied by Moataz Al-Khatib, the Syrian Honorary Consul in Asuncion, and Michael Maskin, the Honorary Consul of Syria in Ciudad del Este, attended the festive mass that was held in the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary in the capital, Asuncion, for assuming the presidency ny Palacios.

The ceremony was also attended by King of Spain, presidents of the republics of Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Bolivia, and their foreign ministers, the Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir, and the ambassadors of Lebanon, Algeria, the UAE, Kuwait, Morocco, the Sultanate of Oman and Palestine to Paraguay.

Ambassador Salamah and the honorary Syrian consuls also participated in the military parade held on this occasion.
