President Al-Assad chairs a meeting of the Baath Party Central leadership

Damascus,(ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad, Secretary-General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, chaired a meeting of the party’s central leadership, during which he discussed with the leadership members various party issues, most notably those related to the Central Committee and the Baath Party’s strategy through its bloc within the People’s Assembly.

The meeting approved the establishment of an internal system for the party’s Central Committee that defines its role, tasks, and relation with the central leadership and all party structures. The meeting also discussed the role of the party’s bloc in the People’s Assembly to develop the PA’s internal system.

The meeting also discussed the party’s support, through its bloc within the People’s Assembly, for the independence of the judiciary stipulated in the constitution, in everything that comes from the judiciary to the assembly, in order to protect the rights of the state and individuals and to enshrine the principle of justice.

The meeting approved the necessity of setting a financial system for the party that guarantees transparency and financial responsibility with regard to the Baath Party’s resources and budget.
