Damascus- President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday discussed with the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, the head of the Iranian side in the Joint Economic Committee, the new prospects for economic cooperation between Syria and Iran, in addition to means of benefiting from the available opportunities to develop relations in various economic fields including investment, trade and energy.
President Al-Assad affirmed that upgrading the Syrian-Iranian economic ties to the level of political relations is an essential issue and the governments of the two countries should continue working to strengthen these ties.
For his part, Minister Bazrpash stressed the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s keenness on supporting economic relations between Tehran and Damascus, stressing that Iran exerts its utmost efforts to enhance them in the service of the interest of the peoples of the two countries.
The Iranian Minister noted a number of economic issues that the specialized Syrian-Iranian committees will work on in the next stage, especially in the field of investment, energy and electricity.
