President Al-Assad Awards The Cuban Ambassador In Damascus The Syrian Order Of Merit Of Excellent Degree
Damascus, (ST) – President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday awarded the Cuban ambassador in Damascus Miguel Porto Parga, the Syrian Order of Merit of the excellent degre in recognition of his efforts in developing the Syrian-Cuban relations.
The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Ayman Soussan, who awarded the Cuban ambassador the order of merits at a farewell ceremony held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus today on the occasion of the end of his term as the ambassador of his country to Syria, said that Mr. President Bashar Al-Assad issued a decree awarding the Syrian order of Merit of the excellent degree to Ambassador Parga in appreciation of his great efforts in strengthening the relations between Syria and Cuba.
Dr. Soussan praised the important role played by the Cuban ambassador in the light of the difficult circumstances that Syria has experienced with the aim of strengthening and consolidating the various aspects of the relations between the two countries.
He pointed out that Ambassador Parga acted as an ambassador for Syria and was a strong voice that defends Syria and its stances.
Dr. Soussan stressed that the Syrian-Cuban relations are historically rooted and the two countries have the same policies and the same stances and firm principles based on respecting national sovereignty and the independent national decision.
After receiving the order of merit, Ambassador Parga expressed his gratitude to President Al-Assad for awarding him this medal. He considered it an incentive to continue working to strengthen bilateral relations.
Parga thanked the Syrian government and people and the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their cooperation that helped him complete his duties as an ambassador in Syria.
Parga pointed out that distinguished bilateral relations are reflected in the common political positions at regional and international forums, and that the two countries are working to boost the economic and trade relations up to the level of the political relations.
He stressed that Cuba has supported and will always support the right of the Syrian people to maintain their country’s independence, sovereignty and liberate the occupied Syrian territories.
