President Al-Assad: Any success for the Palestinian issue is a success for Syria

President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday received members of the General Secretariat of the Union of the Palestinian Communities and Organizations – Europe, which held its 5th Conference in Damascus on Sunday.

During the meeting, President Al-Assad said that there is a core link between Syria and the Palestinian cause, not only in terms of geography and ideology, but also in terms of interests, therefore, any success for this issue is a success for Syria.

The president pointed out that the Palestinian cause is present strongly at the international arena thanks to the efforts of the Palestinians in Diaspora, the struggle of the Palestinian resistance and the awareness of the new generation about its just cause and about defending it.

“The core point in the work of the Palestinian communities and organizations abroad must be based on thought with the aim of preserving identity and memory through future generations so that the Palestinian cause remains present,” President Al-Assad said, adding that work must also focus on refuting the lies that aim at portraying the Palestinians as a terrorist people.

On their part, members of the delegation affirmed that their conference succeeded because of Syria’s real support for the Palestinian cause. They said that Syria’s hosting of this conference and the previous ones, besides its keenness on giving the Palestinians inside the country all the rights like the Syrians indicate the originality of the Syrian people.

The delegation’s members stressed that when they defend Syria in the countries they are residing in they are defending Palestine, pointing out that the war facing the Syrian people has exposed the claims of the West about defending human rights and freedoms.
