President al-Assad and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed discuss bilateral economic cooperation

President Bashar al-Assad and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held an official talks session at Al Watan Palace in the  UAE capital Abu Dhabi in the presence of the two country’s official delegations.

The talks dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them, reflecting the deep historical ties between the Syrian and UAE fraternal peoples. The talks also addressed positive developments in the region and the importance of building on those developments to stabilize their countries  and peoples who look for greater safety and prosperity.

President Bashar al-Assad considered that the UAE’s positions have always been rational and moral, and that its role in the Middle East is a positive and effective role in ensuring strong relations between Arab countries. He stressed that this role intersects with Syria’s vision of the need to strengthen bilateral relations between Arab States in order to achieve joint Arab action that can bring Arab countries  together and fulfill  the interests of their peoples. President al-Assad also stressed that dissonance and the severance of relations is an incorrect principle in politics, and that what is normal for relations between Arab countries is to be sound and fraternal.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the importance of Syria’s return to its Arab surroundings and building and strengthening relations between all Arab States for the benefit of their peoples.

President al-Assad thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the UAE staff and the Emirati people for their support to the Syrian people in confronting  the earthquake disaster, describing the UAE’s humanitarian role in helping Syria overcome the consequences of the devastating earthquake disaster as effective, which shows sincere love and pure fraternity.  His Excellency considered that, despite the great pain that the disaster had inflicted on Syrians, the broad solidarity and support they had received from their brothers had had a great impact in alleviating their suffering .

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed stressed that the United Arab Emirates supports Syria and will continue to stand in solidarity with the Syrian people and help them overcome all that they have suffered as a result of the war and the earthquake, and will continue to provide various types of assistance to support the Syrian Government’s efforts in this area.

His Highness praised the Syrian community in the UAE, considering that it had a special and positive imprint in building the UAE and the growth of its economy.
