President Al-Assad and Russia’s Putin exchange congratulations on New Year

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad and President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Monday exchanged congratulations on the New year and stressed joint keenness on enhancing bilateral ties for the good of the people of the two countries.

 President Al-Assad extended his best wishes of prosperity and progress to President Putin and the Russian people.

On behalf of the Syrians, President Al-Assad thanked Russia for supporting Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and for helping the Syrians get rid of terrorism, rebuild what terrorism has destroyed and restore normal and peaceful life.

On his part, President Putin reiterated his commitment to boosting Russia’s friendship and cooperation with Syria, vowing continuous support for preserving Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He said that joint efforts next year will hopefully result in restoring security and stability to the entire Syrian territory.
