Presidency welcomes democratic candidacy process

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic has welcomed the democratic and free atmosphere in the stage of candidacy for the office of president of the republic.

In a statement released today, the presidency said:” Submission of several candidates’ applications to the Supreme Constitutional Court is a democratic and positive atmosphere and it is an implementation of the constitution and laws.”

It called on all Syrian citizens to positively deal with the process that offers many options for them when they vote.

“The presidency stands at the same distance from all candidates so as for the Syrians could elect their president freely and transparently,” the statement concluded.
