Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic Statement from the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic

The Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the Israeli missile strike that targeted the Damascus countryside on the morning of Thursday, May 1, 2025. This attack represents a dangerous escalation against the institutions of the state and its sovereignty. It is part of a broader pattern by hostile movements seeking to undermine the country’s stability, deepen security crises, and threaten Syria’s national unity and public safety.

The Presidency calls on the international community and Arab nations, both regionally and globally, to take a firm stand against these hostile interventions that violate international law and national sovereignty. The Presidency urges Arab countries to unite their positions and express full support for Syria in facing such assaults, including efforts to defend the rights of Arab peoples against Israeli aggression.

The Presidency affirms that these repeated aggressions aim to target Syria’s unity—whether through domestic or foreign hands—by weakening the Syrian people’s will or obstructing state efforts to achieve peace and stability across all regions. The competent Syrian security agencies will continue the necessary investigations to identify those responsible for these aggressions and will take decisive action to prevent any threats that may endanger the country and its citizens.

The Presidency reiterates its call for all parties to commit to dialogue and work within the framework of national unity. It also warns against any attempts to prolong the crisis or disrupt the path toward recovery and reconstruction. Syria is moving forward, and it will not allow reform efforts to be derailed regardless of the challenges.

In conclusion, Syria will not compromise on its sovereignty or security, and it will continue to defend the rights of its people by all available means.

Damascus, May 2, 2025
