Presidency of the Republic: Presidential Decree for the Formation of the National Authority for the Missing
Decree No. 19 of 2025 for the Formation of the National Authority for the Missing
Based on the powers granted to the President of the Syrian Arab Republic and in accordance with the provisions of the constitutional declaration, and in order to uncover the fate of thousands of missing persons in Syria and to provide justice for their families, the following is announced:
An independent authority named “The National Authority for the Missing” is established.
The authority is tasked with searching for and revealing the fate of the missing and forcibly disappeared individuals, documenting cases, creating a national database, and providing legal and humanitarian support to their families.
Mohammad Reda Jalakhi is appointed as the head of the authority and is tasked with forming a working team and establishing internal regulations within a maximum period of 30 days from the date of this announcement.
The authority enjoys legal personality, financial independence, and administrative autonomy, and it carries out its functions throughout the Syrian Arab Republic.
