Preparatory Committee for the Syrian National Dialogue Conference holds dialogue session in Sweida

The Preparatory Committee for the Syrian National Dialogue Conference on Wednesday held dialogue session as part of the national dialogue process in Sweida governorate.

About 100 personalities representing various activities and spectra of society in the governorate took part in the session.

several issues were discussed, mainly the constitutional structure, the reform of state institutions, personal and public freedoms and political life, the role of civil society organizations, and new economic principles.

The interventions of the participants dealt with the issues of building a civil inclusive democratic state based on political pluralism, preparing a modern constitution that preserves rights and freedoms, forming a supreme constitutional court, establishing a national army and completing a special law in the courts of transitional justice, studying the abolition of a law of ownership of non -Syrians, and encouraging honest national thought.

A number of participants called for enhancing the freedom of media, amend the name of the National Dialogue Conference to the National Congress, invite the national parties to attend the conference, enhance civil peace and follow up on the fate of the detainees and missing persons. ‏

They also called for achieving the principle of equal opportunities in building state institutions, advancing economic reality, and expanding the role of civil society.

The Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue Conference Maher Alloush stressed the importance of dialogue to put forward opinions, visions and ideas that serve as infrastructure for the shape of the next state, and to address issues that contribute to putting Syria on a path in which everyone participates. ‏

Member of the committee Hind Qabawat pointed to the importance of starting work on right rules to establish a strong state that expresses the opinions of everyone, achieves justice and protects everyone without discrimination under fair laws.

Moreover, member of the committee Hassan Al -Deghaim praised the state of consensus among the Syrian people to get rid of the former regime, and to start national dialogue, leading to the holding of the conference during the coming period.
