Preparations for holding the Syrian-Iraqi Joint Committee next May

Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil yesterday discussed with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus RiadHassoun Al-Tai the preparations for holding the meetings of the 9th session of the joint Syrian-Iraqi committee for commercial, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen trade relations and the need to restore these relations and increase the volume of intra-trade and the flow of goods between the two countries.

The minister stressed the keenness of the Syrian government to take measures to accelerate the activation and development of the cooperation relations between the two countries, noting the participation of Iraqi companies in the Damascus International Fair in its 59th session and the importance of the agreement signed between the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in both countries and the contracts signed between businessmen on the sidelines of exhibitions In addition to the organization of mutual exhibitions and permanent centers for Syrian and Iraqi products in both countries.

For his part , Mr. al-Tai said that the Syrian exhibitions, which were attended by Iraqi merchants, left a good impression and enthusiasm to participate in the Damascus International Fair as it will be a special opportunity to deepen the relations between the two sides, pointing out that Syrian products meet popularity in Iraq for its quality and competitive prices.
