DAMASCUS, (ST)- Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Saturday received an Italian medical delegation led by head of the Syrian community in Italy Jamal Abu al-Abbas.
The premier expressed the Syrian government’s appreciation over the humanitarian mission being carried out by the delegation in Syria and over the efforts it is exerting to assist wounded people and other humanitarian cases, stressing that the Syrian people won’t forget this humanitarian gesture.
Khamis said that the health sector has been a main target of systematic terrorism and destruction aiming to break the will of the Syrians.
“Despite the war circumstances, the Syrian government has been keen on providing free medical service to citizens and support all components of the health sector as to face the challenges and the repercussions of the terrorist war imposed on the Syrian citizens and the health sector,” said the prime minister.
“We are proud of you and your humanitarian message which indicates that the world still contains freedom-loving people who read events correctly,” Khamis told members of the deleagtion, pointing out that Syria today is fighting terrorism on behalf of the entire world.
On their part, members of the delegation expressed their happiness for being able to provide medical assistance to citizens who need, affirming that they will convey to the Italian a true image about the terrorism targeting all sectors in Syria.
