Premier Discusses with Lebanese Ministers the Development of Economic Relations

Damascus, (ST)-Prime Minister Eng. Imad Khamis received here yesterday Lebanese Agriculture Minister Ghazi Zuaiter and Industry Minister Hussein Haj Hassan. The two sides discussed the development of economic relations between the two countries, especially in the agricultural and industrial fields and ways to overcome the obstacles to move these relations to a better reality at different levels.

Eng. Khamis expressed his appreciation for the visit and the participation of Lebanese companies in the Damascus international Fair, expressing the depth of the historical relations rooted between the Syrian and Lebanese peoples, pointing out the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries to benefit the two brotherly peoples.

 For his part, the Minister,Zuaiter, congratulated the Syrian people on the victories achieved on various Syrian territories, stressing that the launch of the Damascus International Fair represents a declaration of victory for Syria in its war on terrorism and the start of the recovery of the Syrian economy.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Eng. Ahmad Al-Qadri and Secretary General of the the Cabinet Dr. Qais Kheder.

During his meeting with Minister Haj Hassan, Eng. Khamis stressed the need to open wider horizons for cooperation between the two countries in the economic fields and ways of activating the agreements signed between the two sides in this field.

For his part, Mr. Al-Haj Hassan confirmed that Lebanon’s interest lies in establishing strong and distinguished relations with Syria in various fields due to the historical and geographical ties that unite the two brotherly peoples, pointing out the importance of working to expand fields of cooperation and coordination in the industrial and commercial fields.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Industry Eng. Ahmad Al-Hamo and the Secretary General of the Cabinet.

During the two meetings, the two parties discussed the development of mapping out a common vision to expand the horizons of cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural, industrial, commercial and investment fields and take serious steps to activate this cooperation and remove any obstacles to the development of economic relations.
