Premier al-Halaqi inaugurates al-Qalamoun Educational Hospital and Dreikish Dam

Provinces – Acting upon the directives of president Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi inaugurated on Thursday the Educational Medical City Hospital that is affiliated to the private al-Qalamoun University in Deir Atiah in Damascus Countryside.

The inauguration of the SYP 17 billion-worth hospital marks the 45th anniversary of the glorious Correctionist Movement of November 16, 1970, SANA reported.

 Premier al-Halaqi said the medical city enhances the capabilities of the Syrian health sector, noting that its hospital contains state-of-the-art equipment with cutting-edge technology.

Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mohammad Amer al-Mardini, who attended the inauguration, said the hospital is of international class, stressing the importance of cooperation and coordination between the hospital’s cadres and cadres of other educational institutions.

The 2,400 square meters project includes a 6-storey building with 240 beds and various medical departments with 20 specialized clinics and 8 surgery rooms.

Later on the day, Premier al-Halaqi inaugurated Dreikish Dam in the coastal Tartous province with a value of 452 million SYP.

He stressed the government’s keenness on supplying all areas with drinking water and irrigation water, adding that the government plans to preserve natural resources and benefit from rainfall and precipitation to confront draught.

He highlighted that water projects will be established all over the country, as the government is also seeking to invest in renewable energy projects to meet the needs of comprehensive and sustainable development.

Dreikish Dam is 40 km away from Tartous city, and the water of its reservoir will be used to provide drinking and irrigation water.
