JERUSALEM, (ST) _ Prayers were held in the” Savior” Latin Church monastery in Jerusalem yesterday for restoring peace in Syria, Iraq and all the Arab Mashreq, and in solidarity with the two bishops abducted by terrorist organizations in rural Aleppo, Paul Yazigi Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun and Surroundings for the Orthodox Church and John Abraham, Metropolitan of Aleppo Syriac Orthodox church, attended by a group of priests from various churches of the Holy City.

Following the prayer, which was hosted by Rev. Michel Shawki, the participants prayed in solidarity with Syria and Iraq and all the oppressed, with special prayers for the two kidnapped Bishops.

Worthy mentioning that one armed terrorist group abducted on April 22, 2013 Bishops Yazigi and Ibrahim while on humanitarian operations in Kafr Dael village in l rural Aleppo.

Bishop Atallah Hanna emphasized, in a speech, solidarity of Christians of Jerusalem and the churches of the Holy City with their brethren in Syria and Iraq.

Earlier last January, Archbishop Hanna reiterated on the occasion of the Week of Prayer for the unity of the Christian churches, held in the city of Jerusalem that the Christian presence in the Arab region will not be protected by the West who only care about their interests and not the interests of the Christians and their survival in this area, pointing out that steadfastness will only be through Christians and Muslims joint work to confront extremism, terrorism and backwardness.
