Prayers and masses in the churches of Aleppo and Sweida in celebration of glorious Easter

With the participation of hundreds of worshipers and the presence of religious delegations from Damascus, Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Supreme Head of the Syriac Orthodox Church in the world, chaired on April 15’s evening the festive Easter mass in the Cathedral of Mar AphremAleppo.

Patriarch Ephrem II stated: “The Syrian people are a living people and believe in the resurrection in all its human and spiritual meanings, regardless of the challenges that threaten it coexistence, brotherhood, faith in victory and prosperity.”

For his part, Father Shukri Touma referred to the spiritual and sublime meanings summarized by the Easter Day and its symbolism among the people of Aleppo and Syria in general.

Among the participants in the mass, Lulu Al-Khalil said: “We celebrate Easter this year under exceptional circumstances, but with a firm belief since the beginning of the war on Syria that we will rise and overcome crises.”

In the Church of Saint George in the Diocese of Bosra, Horan, Jabal al-Arab and Golan for the Greek Orthodox in the city of Sweida, a Divine Liturgy and a prayer on the feast of the Resurrection of Christ were held, presided over by Bishop John Batsh.

The worshipers prayed to God to preserve our country, its people, its leadership, and its army, and to spread goodness, security, stability, peace, and deliverance from all evil and distress.
