PRAGUE, (ST)- Czech Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaoralek has criticized the contradicting policy of some Western countries towards the crisis in Syria, stressing that this contradiction in stances makes the Europeans unable to agree on a unified strategy towards the crisis.
In a statement to the Czech TV last night, Zaoralek said “on the one hand, we are trying to help the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura find a political solution in the country through dialogue between the Syrian government and opposition sides, while, on the other hand, some European countries are sending weapons and providing support for the armed groups and Britain is threatening of using force.”
“What is needed now is to attain a political solution to the crisis in Syria not to fuel the crisis by sending more weapons,” he reiterated.
Meanwhile, the Czech MP “Tomio Okamora” asserted that the crisis of the displaced Syrians can be solved through working to end the war in Syria.
“It is enough for the United States and the western countries to halt their support for extremist groups in Syria and work to facilitate dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition sides in order to attain a solution to the crisis in Syria,” Okamora told a Czech website today.
He stressed that Russia should be a partner in all negotiations aiming to settle the crisis in Syria because it is “a suitable influential partner.”
