Chinese Company to Establish Electric Power Station in Lattakia

Lattakia Governor Kheder al-Salem on Monday met the delegation of the Chinese “Power China” company led by deputy head of the company, Eng. Zang Li.

The two sides discussed establishing an electric power generating station in Lattakia.

The governor talked about the strong the Syrian-Chinese friendship and praised China’s support for Syria and for the Syrian people under the ongoing crisis.

During the meeting, Al-Salem briefed the Chinese delegation on the terrorist groups’ systematic destruction of the Syrian infrastructure, particularly the sector  of electricity. These terrorist acts aimed at increasing the suffering of the Syrian people because electricity is a vital sector that has to do with all aspects of the Syrian citizens’ life, he said.

 On his part, Li expressed the Chinese government and companies’ readiness to offer all kinds of support to the Syrian government and people, including in the process of reconstruction.

He said Lattakia, with its important position, is the gate for Chinese-Syrian cooperation, pointing out that “Power China” has completed the assessment study of the project to build the power station and put the contracting conditions and the total cost of the project.

“Power China” is one of the biggest Chinese companies in the field of energy. It carries out projects around the world including building roads bridges, hospitals, factories and electric power stations as well thermal and gas plants.
