Portnikov: Russian security has prevented terrorist crimes in the country

Moscow,(ST) – The head of the Russian Federal Security Service Alexander Portnikov announced that the private security services have prevented terrorist acts in Russia this year from happening, and have spent and arrested many terrorists, including the leaders.

Portnikov said at a meeting of the National Counter-Terrorism Committee today in Moscow that the coordinated actions of law enforcement agencies prevented the majority of terrorist attacks, noting that during the course of counter-terrorism operations 32 elements of criminal gangs were eliminated, including nine leaders, and 41 suspects were arrested in extremist gangs and 241 militants. Also 50 terrorist crimes were prevented.
