Pope of  Vatican calls for the opening of humanitarian crossing to help people in Gaza Strip

Pope Francis  called on  Sunday for   the Vatican to open humanitarian crossing  to help those besieged  in Gaza.

“I strongly demand  that children, the sick, the elderly, women and all civilians not become victims of the conflict,” Reuters quoted the Pope as saying in his weekly sermon to the crowds in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican on Sunday.

He added  “Human rights must be respected before anything else in Gaza.”

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned earlier on Sunday  that more than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip face the risk of running out of water, which has become life-threatening.
