Pope Francis, the Pope of the Vatican, warned that wars and global warming “threaten the future of humanity,” calling for taking responsibility to allow peoples to grow.
During a joint appeal signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Jakarta, Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque in the Indonesian capital, Nasruddin Omar, the appeal called to confront “the religious exploitation of conflicts” and to address climate change.
Pope Francis added: “We responsibly assess the serious and sometimes tragic crises that threaten the future of humanity, especially wars, without forgetting the environmental crisis that has become an obstacle to the growth of peoples.”
In turn, the Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque said: “Today we have two important messages, the first is that humanity is only one, and the second is how to save our environment, and these are two very important topics today.”
