Pompeo’s visit to Israeli settlements in the West Bank a dangerous escalation: Palestinian PM

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh has stressed that the visit of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to several Israeli settlements in the West Bank is a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of the International law and the international legitimacy resolutions.

According to WAFA News Agency, Shtayyeh said that Pompeo’s visit further violates the rights of the Palestinian people and affirms America’s absolute support for the occupation and its illegal settlement plans in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In the same context, the city of Al-Bireh in the West Bank witnessed on Wednesday a demonstration to condemn Pompeo’s visit to an Israeli settlement that has been established in the area.

Demonstrators raised the Palestinian flags and chanted slogans condemning the Israeli occupation’s violations and crimes against the Palestinians, their land and their holy sites. They called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and stop these violations.

The demonstrators reiterated that the Palestinian people are adherent to their land and they will continue with their struggle until all the Israeli and American schemes that aim at liquidating the Palestinian cause are foiled.
