Polyansky: “Israel” uses negotiations with Palestinian resistance as a cover to ignite fire in Gaza

Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky confirmed that the Israeli occupation entity is using prisoner exchange and ceasefire negotiations with Hamas as a cover to continue fighting in the Gaza Strip.

During a UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East yesterday, Polyansky said, according to the RT website: “The negotiations are just a smokescreen to distract the international community from the fundamental solution to the Palestinian issue.”

He added that there is no indication yet that Israel is ready to change its approach.

He said: “We in the Security Council only need political will and unity on this issue, and unfortunately our American colleagues, who continue to cover up Israel’s actions, are supplying it with weapons, thus encouraging it to continue its military operation in Gaza.”
