DAMASCUS, (ST)- Prime Minister Imad Khamis and the Chinese Ambassador to Syria Qi Qianjinon Thursday discussed activating and boosting economic cooperation between Syria and China through inviting Chinese investors to participate in the reconstruction process in Syria.
The premier highly appreciated China’s support for the political process in Syria, pointing out that countries of the world should realize how important their political and economic support for Syria is to enhance the country’s role in fighting terrorism, which is the most dangerous weapon used by colonialist states to implement their foreign agendas.
He stressed that Syria is paying expensively for its resistance to maintain its independence and sovereignty and it is fighting terrorism on behalf of the world.
Qianjinon, on his part, hailed the strong Syrian-Chinese relations which are based on common interests and joint struggle against domination schemes.
He affirmed that China will continue providing assistance to the Syrian people and working to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries in different domains.
Local Reconciliations Major Element to Solve Crisis in Syria
On Wednesday, Minister of State for National Reconciliation Ali Haidar met Qianjinon and told him that local reconciliations have become a major element to solve the crisis in Syria besides the decisive role of the Syrian Arab Army in fighting terrorism.
Haidar hailed China’s positive stances on the crisis in Syria represented in supporting political solution and national dialogue and in rejecting foreign interference in Syria’s affiars.
He referred to the possibility of benefiting from the experience of China and other BRICS states in ensuring the suitable circumstances to launch the political process and reconstruction in the country.
On his part, the Chinese ambassador said his country will continue supporting the Syrian people in the confrontation of terrorism and in their efforts to solve the crisis in a way that maintains the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.
In a statement to reporters following the meeting, Haidar said that China’s stances expressed the deep relations between the two countries.
“China adopted a brave stance and used veto at the Security Council to abort western countries’ attempt to impose their own visions regarding the crisis in Syria.
Qi Qianjin, on his part, renewed his country’s support for political solutions in Syria including local reconciliations because they help attain stability in the country, stressing that the any solution in Syria should be decided by the Syrian people.
