DAMASCUS, (ST)- China’s Syria Envoy Xie Xiaoyan has stressed that right and lasting settlement of the crisis in Syria can’t be attained except through political dialogue and finding solutions that satisfy the interests of all parties.
In a press conference on Thursday in Damascus, the Chinese envoy said his country “calls for pushing political solution efforts through four parallel tracks: fighting terrorism, ceasefire, humanitarian aid and political process,” affirming that this stance has received huge support and appreciation by all Syrian and international parties.
China was among the first countries to propose ideas for political solution in Syria that is acceptable to all and that preserves the sovereignty , independence and territorial integrity of the Syrian state, said the Chinese envoy.
He added that recent escalation of events in Syria has necessitated more efforts by the international community and the concerned parties to find political solution.
He pointed out that he is visiting Syria for the second time to be briefed on all points of view on developments of the situation in Syria and on how to push forward the process of political solution.
Xiaoyan affirmed that his country is against adopting double standards in the issue of fighting terrorism, noting that all terrorist organizations, particularly internationally-blacklisted ones, must be firmly targeted.
