DAMASCUS, (ST) – Prime Minister Dr. Wael al -Halaqi underlined that “Iran will have major opportunities in the establishment of joint development projects in Syria.”
During a meeting with chairman of the development of economic relations between Iran and Syria Rostum Qassemi and his accompanying delegation, Dr. al -Halaqi clarified that the results of economic and trade meetings that took place between the two sides over the past few days “were fruitful and positive and contribute to open new prospects of cooperation between the two countries.”
For his part, Mr. Qassemi stressed that “Iran will not hesitate to provide any economic and commercial support to Syria and its people,” and Iran is keen to provide all the needs of the Syrian people to enhance its capabilities.
The two sides discussed the mechanisms for implementing the results of talks, especially in the field of electric power, transportation, water resources and the establishment of silos, mills, joint oil and transportation projects, providing food and petroleum products and spare parts of plants and industrial facilities in addition to cooperation in the field of health, agriculture, communications, scientific and medical research.
The meeting was attended by Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Taiseer al -Zoubi and Deputy Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Hayan Salman, Syrian ambassador in Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Reza Sheibani.
The official talks between the Syrian and Iranian sides began last Sunday to discuss the reality of economic and trade relations between the two countries and the results of the meetings which were held in Tehran last month and mechanisms of implementation.
