PM: Partnership between Government, Commerce and Industry Chambers Important to Surpass Economic Repercussions of War
DAMASCUS, (ST)-Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi has stressed the importance of partnership between the government and the country’s chambers of commerce and industry in drawing up the strategic policies of the national economy and reactivating new industries as to surpass the repercussions of the unjust economic war waged on Syria and to get ready for the recovery and reconstruction era.
Al-Halqi, who was speaking during a meeting on Wednesday with Chairman and members of the Damascus Countryside’s Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors, said the government is counting on the launching of production in the trade and industrial public and private sectors as to meet the need of the local market, export the surplus and create new job opportunities that achieve social stability.
He affirmed the government’s keenness on expanding small and medium-sized enterprises and on rehabilitating the damaged industrial cities and zones in the country.
The meeting tackled the situation of national industries, the challenges facing them and ways of reviving and expanding these industries in addition to plans of restoring the factories damaged by terrorist attacks.
Chairman and members of the Chamber’s Board, on their part, highly appreciated the government’s efforts aiming to enhance the steadfastness of the national economy, to support Damascus Countryside traders and to meet the Syrian citizens’ living requirements.
They reiterated their keenness on contributing to the development of national industries and to supporting national economy.
