PM holds talks with Iraqi delegation over cooperation in various fields

DAMASCUS, May.2, (ST)- Today, Prime Minister Hussein Arnous discussed with the Iraqi Trade Minister Atheer Al-Ghariri and the accompanying delegation the ways of boosting relations in various fields.

Arnous asserted the importance of the 11th session of the joint Syrian-Iraqi committee where agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed reflecting the common desire and will of the governments of the two countries to develop and strengthen brotherly relations, open new prospects for cooperation covering the fields of energy and agriculture and promote trade.

He also affirmed the need to encourage the business sector of the two countries to establish joint investments and companies and take advantage of industrial and agricultural investment opportunities available to both sides.

The premier thanked the Iraqi’s government and people for the support they provided to the earthquake-affected people which reflects the deeply- rooted historical and brotherly relations between the two countries.

For his part, Al-Ghariri reiterated his country’s determination to further develop and promote bilateral relations, and enhance cooperation between public and private sector institutions in the two countries and exchange expertise in the operation of industrial enterprises and take advantage of investment opportunities in Syria to meet the needs and requirements of the two peoples.
