PM discusses with Araghchi the Syrian-Iranian coordination to offer aid to the Lebanese people who come to Syria
DAMASCUS, Oct.5, (ST)-Today, Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali discussed with the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi the latest developments in the region and the continued crimes committed by the Israeli aggressor against the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The agency reported that the two sides also reviewed economic relations between the two countries, mechanisms for developing them, following up on joint work programs, and implementing agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between the two countries.
The two sides stressed the need to continue efforts at all levels to stop the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and coordinate between the Syrian and Iranian governments to provide aid to the Lebanese coming from Lebanon and meet all their basic needs pointing out the importance of cooperation between Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and Iranian Red Crescent Society, civil societies and international organizations to provide the greatest possible assistance to the arrivals.
The premier affirmed that the Syrian government, upon the directives of President Bashar Al-Assad, provided all possible assistance to the Lebanese brothers, despite the difficult economic conditions the country is going through.
He expressed gratitude to Iran for providing assistance to the new people who arrives from Lebanon and for supporting the Syrian people over the past years.
The two sides also stressed the importance of the deep-rooted strategic relations between the two countries, which are based on mutual respect.
For his part, Araqchi said that the bilateral cooperation are very important, especially in overcoming the current circumstances, and stressed his country’s continued support for the Syrian people.
