PM assures the Syrians that basic materials and supplies won’t disappear from markets because of anti-coronavirus measures

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Prime Minster Imad Khamis has assured the Syrians that basic materials and supplies won’t disappear from the markets due to the anti-coronavirus measures in the country, as the process of importing these materials has never stopped.

In a press conference on Tuesday, the premier said that the process of importing medicine, oil derivatives, sugar, wheat, flour, rice and other basic materials has been continuous, but some obstacle are facing the distribution process as a result of the precautionary measures adopted by the government to prevent the spread of the virus.

He pointed out that the government is working to find solutions to surpass these obstacles.

From the first days of coronavirus outbreak in the world, Syria has worked out plans to combat a possible spread of the pandemic in the country taking into consideration that the country is still in a state of war against terrorism, said Khamis, pointing out that the government’s priorities have changed given the new health challenges with the purpose of avoiding human losses.

Controlling the borders, suspending tourist groups’ tours, checking traveler’s health conditions, limiting citizens’ movement are among the adopted measures to combat corona virus, according to Khamis
