Planning and International Cooperation Commission and UN Habitat Syria discuss cooperation to rebuild Al-Rastan Bridge
The Acting Head of the Planning and International Cooperation Commission Musab Badawi and Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (Habitat) in Syria Hiroshi Takabayashi discussed helping secure funding to rebuild the Rastan City Bridge.
They also discussed means of cooperation to draw up recovery plans in preparation for developing a reconstruction policy.
Badawi explained during a meeting between the two sides today that the commission has a comprehensive study for the rehabilitation of the bridge, the cost of which amounts to more than 2 million dollars.
He expressed hope to reach a common vision with the program, to implement this vital bridge.
Badawi noted the commission’s desire to benefit from the program’s expertise, with the aim of developing a national strategy for reconstruction, revealing that the Prime Minister’s Office has begun to develop comprehensive vision on this file.
For his part, Takabayashi affirmed that he will communicate with donor sides in more than one country to secure the necessary funding for the bridge rehabilitation project.
