Planes carrying humanitarian assistance to earthquake-affected people arrive at airports of Damascus, Lattakia and Aleppo
Eight aid planes from the United Arab Emirates and Iran arrived today at the airports of Damascus, Aleppo and Lattakia, carrying humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the earthquake in Syria.
Two Emirati planes loaded with 135 tons of relief aid landed in Damascus international airport. The aid included medical and food supplies as well as milk for children.
Lattakia airport witnessed the landing of three Emirati planes carrying relief materials, 10 ambulances and medical supplies aiming at supporting the Syrian health system and empowering it to respond to the growing needs resulted from the repercussions of the earthquake.
Also, two Emirati planes arrived at Aleppo airport carrying 55 tons of relief and food aid to the quake-affected people.
An Iranian plane, loaded with 14 tons of relief aid, food and milk for children also arrived in Aleppo airport.
Lattakia Port receives second Egyptian aid ship
Meantime, Lattakia port received an Egyptian ship carrying 1000 tons of relief aid as well as medical and food supplies to the quake-affected people in Syria.
The Charge d’ Affairs of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus told journalists that this shipment of aid is the biggest sent by Egypt to Syria in terms of size and weight and that it reflects the strong brotherly relations between the peoples of the two countries, urging more solidarity with the Syrian people to alleviate the repercussions of the earthquake.
For his part, Chairman of Lattakia governorate Council Taysir Habib said that the aid will be delivered to those affected by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the higher relief committee in the Lattakia.
The first Egyptian aid ship arrived at Lattakia port on February 20th with 500 tons of food and relief materials on board.
