Plan to reconstruct damaged monuments in Homs

Directorate of Antiquities in Homs has drawn up a plan for rehabilitating archaeological sites damaged by armed terrorist organizations in the city.

The plan was submitted to the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) in Damascus in order to study it, Director of Antiquities Directorate in Homs Eng. Husam Hamish told Syrian Arab News Agency’s reporter on Tuesday.

Last year, the DGAM carried out several emergency works in some archeological sites in the city of Homs to prevent their collapse.

There are 10.000 archeological sites in Syria, 300 of them have been damaged since the start of the terrorist war on Syria, DGAM’s Director-General Maamoun Abdulkarim told the French Le Figaro newspaper last year.

Since 2011, Syria has faced a foreign-backed terror war targeting its army, people, civilization and infrastructures.
