Pistachio Malban

Malban also known as (halvan or Raha), it is kind of gummy or jello candy that is sometimes served with nuts – hazelnuts, walnuts or pistachio and sometimes you can find it in white color or flavored. It is a paste made of sugar and wheat starch, a delicacy very well known among Syrian confectioneries especially in Moulid events (birth of Prophet Mouhamad) .

Kids love malban so much, it is sweet and easy to chew on.

 

 

Ingredients

1- 3 cup of granulated sugar

2- 2 1/2 cup of water.

3- 5 Tbsp of gelatin powder.

4- 5 Tbs of corn starch.

5- A dash of vanilla

6- Rose water

7- 1/2 cup of pistachio

 

Instructions

1- Start by dissolving the gelatin in 1/2 c of water and the corn starch in a cup of water then over medium heat combine all the ingredients together, stir until mixed well.

2- In a pyrex sprinkle a 1Tbs of starch and a 1 Tbs of powdered sugar. When the above mixture start to bubble, turn off the heat and let it cool for 10 minutes.

3- Pour the mixture in your pyrex, add pistachioif you chose to, then let it cool for an hour or so until it is ready to be refrigerated.

4- Refrigerate overnight or for 4 hours at least, and then with a sharp knife cut it into the desired size.

You can serve as is or covered with more powdered sugar.
