Photography, ceramics and Arabic calligraphy exhibition 2020 celebrates heritage and nature in Syria
Within the activities of the Syrian Plastic Art Days, the Directorate of Fine Arts at the Ministry of Culture organized the annual exhibition of photography, ceramics and Arabic calligraphy at the People’s Hall in Damascus.
The art works of the exhibition were dominated by images of heritage and inspired by nature and its components.
Emad Kashout, Director of Fine Arts told SANA that the exhibition showcased dozens of photography, ceramics and calligraphy art works by prominent artists who have unique imprint in these arts.
He stressed the ministry’s support to all artistic creativities because they stem from the surroundings of the Syrian heritage and society.
Artist Jalal Sheikho, a teacher of calligraphy and photography considered that some of the calligraphy paintings are at a global level, pointing to the classic aspect of the participating art works.
Artist Sheikho highlighted that the Arabic calligraphy is full of creativity, as it is one of the finest calligraphy arts in the world.
Rama Hesham Magik, a teacher of calligraphy at the Applied Arts Institute, participated in a painting of a verse that she wrote in Nisaburi Kufic script and a lettering background technique.
She indicated that she sought through her painting to leave traditionalism, expressing her happiness with this exhibition because it provided a large number of calligraphers with an opportunity to meet and highlight their art..
Artist, Lina Qabsi, indicated that she participated in a piece of ceramics which she called “ an inspiration” because it came in the form of a broken piece, in an attempt through which the artist seeks to address a message that we can rebuild from the shattered things , expressing the fact that we will rebuild Syria despite the destruction caused by the nine-year brutal war.
