Pesticides Available to Combat Locusts

DAMASCUS-(ST): Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the  Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), confirmed its readiness to combat Locusts swarms  which arrived Gaza Strip through Egypt.

The Ministry assured that necessary pesticides are available in case the insects arrive in Syria through Lebanon.

Dr.Taiseer Abu al- fadhl ,Director of Plant Protection Directorate , affirmed that the area planned for combat insects chemically in 2013 reached 237.500 hectare and and total area 765.500 hectare to combat various pests.

Dr. Abu al- Fadhl stressed the ministry’s  readiness   for continuous monitoring pests in cooperation with neighboring countries.
