Peskov: The Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus violated the principles of international law
Moscow (ST) – Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov affirmed the Kremlin’s condemnation of the Israeli aggression against the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
RIA Novosti quoted Peskove as saying today that this attack is a violation of all principles of international law, adding that “It is very important now for everyone to maintain self-control so that this does not lead to destabilizing the situation in the region.”
Regarding the Ukrainian issue, Peskov stressed that his country is open to negotiations regarding Ukraine and would like to participate in these negotiations.
“We have repeatedly stated that, of course, a negotiating process without Russia is senseless. President Putin has repeatedly emphasised that we are open to negotiations, and we would like to negotiate to achieve our goals. However, under the conditions where the Ukrainians have effectively prohibited this negotiation process, we do not see any horizon ahead yet.”
Peskov noted that a document was agreed upon previously, but within two years the situation has changed, and the geopolitical reality is completely different from what it was in March 2020.
“It would be short-sighted not to take this into account during any negotitions”, he added.
