Peskov: Moscow hopes the meeting of constitutional committee on Syria will be fruitful, constructive
MOSCOW, (ST)- Russia hopes that launching the work of the constitutional committee on Syria would be a new step toward reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement to journalists on Tuesday in Moscow said that” we all want a fruitful and constructive meeting. We hope that it will be a good start for a real political settlement that ends the crisis in Syria.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Jennifer Fenton, Spokeswoman for UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, announced that all members of the Committee for Discussing the Syrian Constitution have arrived in Geneva paving the way for starting the meetings of the committee tomorrow.
SANA reported that Fenton affirmed in a press briefing on Tuesday that the 150 members have arrived, 50 of whom represent the delegation which is supported by the Syrian government, 50 from other parties, and 50 from the civil society.
She indicated that the work of the committee will start on Wednesday through speeches by Pedersen and heads of the delegations.
