People’s Assembly: Raising the flag in the sky of Quneitra in 1974 is an important milestone in the life of the Syrian people
Damascus (ST): The People’s Assembly affirmed that the twenty-sixth of June 1974, was an important station in the life of the Syrian people, and a basic starting point in the march to liberate the usurped lands, as the founding leader Hafez Al-Assad raised the Syrian Arab flag in the sky of the liberated city of Quneitra, after defeating the brutal Zionist occupation of the steadfast city and purify its precious wealth from the filth of the occupiers and aggressors.
In a statement on the occasion of the forty-ninth anniversary of raising the flag, which coincides today, the Assembly said “this anniversary recalls a glorious history written by the protectors of the homeland in the face of the arrogance and criminality of the Zionist enemy which was forced to withdraw under the blows of our brave soldiers who formed a unique example of the faith of the valiant men of our armed forces with all its formations, and their ability to achieve victory and defeat the enemy”.
The Assembly said: “Our eyes are looking at the occupied Syrian Golan, whose people have resisted and are still resisting Zionist practices with unyielding determination to liberate their land, and who have rejected all attempts to annex and Judaise them,” noting the popular uprising of the people in Golan in the face of the malicious project to annex thousands of agricultural dunams from the lands of our people in the Golan to establish giant turbines.”
The Assembly affirmed that the Syrians today are more than ever committed to achieving final victory over the forces of evil, aggression and terrorism supported by the United States of America and its allies, stressing that all methods of aggression and unjust sieges have failed thanks to the awareness of the Syrian people and the valor of the men of the Syrian Arab Army led by President Bashar al-Assad.
