Damascus (ST) – The People’s Assembly affirmed that the Syrian people have always been resistant to the of hegemony and fragmentation aimed at exploiting the people’s resources .

The Assembly stated today on the 78th anniversary of the evacuation of the French colonialists: The sacrifices of our people were written on the brightest pages of Syrian history, the glorious Evacuation Day, the day of victory over the brutal French occupier.

“On the 17th of April 1946, the heroism and sacrifices of our distinguished fathers and grandfathers over many years and across all Syria against the French colonialists resulted in the evacuation of the last occupying soldier from our dear homeland.”

The Assembly stressed that: “the Syrian people have always been resistant to projects of domination and fragmentation aimed at exploiting the people’s resources, and this is what we are witnessing from the desperate and miserable attempts of the United States, the West and the usurping Zionist entity to impose a colonial reality in the region and a new mandate with different modern patterns and forms.

The People’s Assembly renewed its confidence in the ability of the Syrian people to mobilize their capabilities and energies to confront terrorism and all forms of conspiracy and aggression that attempt to undermine its sovereignty, indicating that the memory of the Evacuation Day will remain an incentive for generations to confront the invaders.
