People’s Assembly: Every inch of the Occupied Syrian Golan is an Integral Part of the Homeland

Damascus (ST) – The People’s Assembly (PA) has affirmed that every inch of the occupied Syrian Golan is an integral part of Syria. The PA  saluted the people in Golan for their adherence to their Syrian Arab identity and their steadfastness in confronting the Israeli occupation and its colonialist schemes.

The Assembly said in a statement on Monday : 41 years have passed since the day when our people in Golan announced the open strike on the 14th of February 1982 under the slogan “Either Identity or Death” which constituted an uprising in the face of the brutal intransigent Zionist occupation, which imposed its criminal procedures and behavior, as usual, by issuing its false decision to annexation the Syrian Golan.

The Assembly stressed that the false decision was met by categorical rejection and denunciation by the people in Golan. The people raised slogans condemning Israel’s expansionist policies and started a comprehensive strike against the false annexation decision during which the commercial movement was halted and  workers stopped going to their works. As a result, the occupation authorities carried out arbitrary detention campaigns and took repressive measures against many honourable activists who defied the decision.

The Assembly pointed out that five months of general open strike and continuous protests were clear evidence of the total rejection of the people in Golan of the practices of the usurping occupation entity and a true expression of their adherence to their Syrian identity.

The Assembly said: “We reaffirm that Golan is part and parcel of Syria and we reiterate our support, by all available means, for our people in occupied Golan until the complete restoration of this Syrian land. We are fully confident in the inevitable victory thanks to the steadfastness of the honourable people in Golan, the bravery of the Syrian Arab Army and the wisdom and courage of our beloved leader, President Bashar Al-Assad”.
