People’s Assembly Speaker Sabbagh: Syrian Citizens of Occupied Golan Adhere to The Syrian National Identity in Face of Zionist Occupation Practices
People’s Assembly Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh reiterated that the Syrian citizens of the occupied Syrian Arab Golan are totally adherent to the national responsibility entrusted to them in facing the practices of the usurping Zionist occupation entity. Golan Syrian citizens are adherent to their Syrian Arab identity. The Syrian citizens of Golan reject the Israeli methods out of their confidence that the day of liberation will be inevitably coming.
In a speech marking the forty-year anniversary of the ominous decision of the Zionist entity to annex the occupied Syrian Arab Golan during the People’s Assembly session of today, Speaker Sabbagh stressed that the struggle of the Syrian Arab people who are determined to restore the entire territory of the Golan and ti liberate the detainees from the prisons of the occupation.
Sabbagh pointed out the illegality of the Israeli annexation decision, as the United Nations General Assembly held meetings and issued by an overwhelming majority a resolution calling on the usurping entity to withdraw from all the occupied Arab lands. The UN General Assembly further issued another decision on the invalidity of the Zionist measures in the occupied Golan, namely the annexation decision. In this context, UN Security Council Resolution No. 497 demands Israel to cancel the annexation decision and consider it null and void and without any legal effect.
The PA Speaker concluded by saluting the souls of the martyrs of the Golan and the righteous martyrs of the homeland Syria saying that the Assembly and the Syrian people are proud of the Syrian Arab Army which is the fence of the homeland under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.
In turn PA members expressed their pride in the Golan Syrian citizens who are facing the aggressive practices of the Israeli occupation which include displacement, assassinations and arbitrary arrest campaigns. PA members stressed that Occupation practices only increase the Syrian Golan citizens’ steadfastness, determination and insistence on adherence to the land and the Syrian Arab identity.
