People’s Assembly members: Rejecting all forms of foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs, especially the presidential elections

Damascus (ST): The People’s Assembly today held  its sixth session of the second special term chaired by its speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh.

A number of PA members  affirmed during their interventions that they rejected all forms of foreign interference in any of the Syrian internal affairs, foremost of which is the  presidential elections, which represents a national and constitutional duty for all citizens. They clarified that the war on Syria has failed to break the will of steadfastness of the Syrians who daily  affirm  their desire to participate in the elections on the specified date.

They underlined the importance of mobilizing efforts to achieve the conducting of the presidential elections in an optimal manner, so that it would be the largest response in the face of those who conspire against Syria, affirming the authenticity of the Syrian people in practicing democracy and applying constitutional principles since the dawn of independence. Therefore, its adherence to holding the elections on time is evidence of Syria’s victory through the keenness of its citizens to protect and preserve the institutional and constitutional work.
