People’s Assembly calls for an end to Turkish aggression on Syrian territories

Damascus, (ST) – The People’s Assembly condemned in the strongest terms the Turkish parliament’s renewal of the so-called “authorization granted” to the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to send military forces to Syria and Iraq for a period of two years.

The Assembly stressed that, the practices and aggressions of this regime on the Syrian territories are unacceptable. “These practices are illegal, immoral and inhuman”, it added.

The Assembly said in a statement that, Erdogan’s practices and policies have become a major and direct threat to regional and international peace and security. These policies contravene the most basic standards of commitment to international law, international humanitarian law, human rights, and the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter which are based on the equality of sovereignty among states and respect for their political independence and territorial integrity, and the Security Council’s resolutions related to the situation in Syria” .

The People’s Assembly called on the regional and international parliamentary organizations and unions to condemn all aggressive practices of the Turkish regime and force it to immediately stop its aggression on Syrian territories, and to fully and unconditionally withdraw from the lands it occupies, and not to interfere in Syria’s internal affairs.
