People’s Assembly: Balfour Declaration has been a slap in the face of justice and international legitimacy

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The People’s Assembly (PA) has condemned the support being provided by the United States and its allies for terrorism in a desperate attempt to force Syria to change its principled stance towards the Palestinian cause, reiterating that the terrorist war on Syria is a continuation of the ill-famed Balfour Declaration.

In a statement on Saturday marking the 102nd anniversary of  Balfour Declaration, the PA said that the declaration has been a black day in the history of the Palestinian people, the Arab nation and the entire humanity. It has also been a slap in the face of justice and international legitimacy, because it has violated the rights of the Palestinian people who have been deeply rooted in the land of Palestine over thousands of years.

What is going on today in Syria and the region is a continuation of the Balfour Declaration, the PA statement, said, noting that the financial and military support being provided by Washington and its neo colonialist and Zionist allies is nothing but a desperate attempt to force Syria to give up its support for the Palestinian cause and its adherence to the complete liberation of all the occupied Arab territories.

The People’s Assembly made it clear that Syria will keep supporting the historical rights of the Palestinian people and will continue to consider the Palestinian cause as the Arabs’ central cause and the core of the Arab struggle.
