People of Occupied Golan to Hold General Strike against Israel’s Plan to Set up Wind Turbines on Their Lands

QUNEITRA, (ST)- People of the occupied Syrian Golan have announced that they will hold a general strike on Tuesday to protest against the Israeli occupation’s settlement expansionist scheme which includes setting up huge wind tribunes on the agricultural lands of Golan people.

The wind tribunes project, which the Israeli occupation has been trying to implement allegedly to generate electricity from wind energy, is nothing but a hoax to confiscate more than 6000 dunums of agricultural lands owned by the people of the occupied towns of Majdal Shams, Baq’ata, Mas’ada and Ein Qinieh and to displace the locals from their areas.

In a phone call with SANA office in Quneitra, Sheikh Suleiman al-Maqt, liberated prisoner, said that the general strike comes to stress the adherence of occupied Syrian Golan’s people to their Syrian Arab identity and to reiterate that occupied Golan is an integral part of Syria and it will be restored to the Syrian national sovereignty sooner or later.

Through this strike, the people of occupied Syrian Golan want to confirm their rejection of all the Israeli occupation aggressive and provocative practices, including holding so-called local councils elections and setting up wind turbines, al-Maqt added.
