ANTAKIA, (ST)-Hundreds of people from the usurped Liwa Iskenderun have rallied in the “Sriniol” neighborhood of Antakia city to condemn the Turkish regime’s support for and training of the terrorists called by Erdogan as “Moderate opposition” in Syria, while the truth is that these terrorists have been committing massacres against the Syrian people.
The demonstrators carried the national Syrian flag, pictures of President Bashar Al-Assad and chanted slogans expressing their solidarity with the Syrian people in the confrontation of the ongoing terrorist war waged against Syria by terrorists backed by regional, western and Arab countries. They also condemned the oppressive policy of Erdogan whom they described as dictator and slammed the support provided to the terrorists groups in Syria by the government of the Justice and Development Party in Turkey.
Earlier this month, the Turkish foreign minister reiterated that Turkey and the United States were determined to continue training and supporting the terrorist organizations described by Washington and Ankara as “moderate opposition”. He stressed that some 2000 terrorists were to get training this year and that the program would start on May 9th.
Erdogan’s forces established military checkpoints in the area to prevent demonstrators from continuing their march and tried to disperse them.
Participants in the rally denounced the Turkish government’s support for terrorism in Syria by delivering arms to terrorists, by facilitating the terrorists’ infiltration into Syria across the Turkish borders and by providing treatment to injured terrorists at Turkish hospitals. They also warned against the danger posed by the terrorist groups on the people of Turkey’s southern provinces.
Some Turkish popular council’s officials participating in the rally held Erdogan and the Justice and Development Party responsible for the bloodshed in Syria, stressing their insistence on overthrowing Erdogan’s regime which commits war crimes against the Syrian people.
On their part, some participating Turkish opposition figures stressed that the program of training the so-called “moderate opposition” is illegal and it contradicts international laws.
