People in occupied Syrian Golan reaffirm rejection of the Israeli scheme to build settlements on their lands

People in the occupied Syrian Golan have reaffirmed their rejection of the Israeli occupation’s settlement building scheme in Golan, reiterating that they will not allow the occupation to seize their lands and will continue resisting the occupation’s attempts to displace them.

The Israeli occupation’s announced plan to build two new settlement outposts, that include 12,000 settlement units on the land of the occupied Syrian Golan, aims at increasing the number of Israeli settlers in occupied Golan and at making a demographic change in this Syrian land, said the people in Golan, stressing that this plan will not pass and it is doomed to failure.

In a statement to SANA, Nazem Al-Sha’er, a citizen from the occupied Syrian Golan, said that the occupation authorities have been trying to expand settlement building activities on the land of Golan since the first day of occupying this Syrian land.

This new settlement building scheme will fail as the previous one and the Golan will inevitably return to Syria whatever time this may take, he added.

Midyan Al-Damaqsi, another citizen from occupied Syrian Golan, reiterated that Golan is a Syrian Arab land and its people stress every day their adherence to their homeland and their Syrian Arab identity. He affirmed confidence that the people in  occupied Golan will foil the occupation’s scheme that aims at displacing them and seizing their lands and they will continue with their struggle until they liberate their Golan.

Syria continuously affirms that the occupied Golan is an integral part of its territory and it is keen on restoring every inch of its occupied soil by all available means, because this is an eternal right that does end with the passage of time.

Syria also supports the resistance of the people in the Golan against to the Israeli occupation and it policy of looting their lands with the aim of establishing settlements and changing Golan’s demographic, geographical and legal character.

The United Nations resolutions call for the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Syrian Golan to the June 4th, 1967 line. The latest of these resolutions are the two that were adopted by the UN General Assembly on the 9th of this month. The first reaffirmed that all the measures taken or to be taken by the Israeli occupation entity with the aim of changing the character and legal status of the Syrian Golan are null and void and they constitute a flagrant violation of international law. The second renewed a call on “Israel” to immediately and completely halt all settlement building operations in the occupied Palestinian lands and the occupied Syrian Golan and to implement the relevant Security Council resolutions.
