Pentagon: First Batch of US Forces Tasked with Training So-called “Moderate Opposition” Arrives in the Region
NEW YORK- Pentagon Spokeswoman Elissa Smith has confirmed that the first batch of American forces tasked with training the terrorists of the so-called “moderate opposition” in Syria has begun to arrive in the region.
“We expect the next wave of several hundred of the trainers and enablers to be deployed in the next few weeks, the spokeswoman told the Russian RIA Novosti News Agency on Wednesday.
A US program to arm and train members of Syria’s opposition will see a new deployment of US servicemen to the Middle East within weeks, Smith said.
On January 16, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel authorized the initial contingent of trainers to begin establishing the training sites for the program to train and equip the so-called “moderate Syrian opposition”, She clarified.
Earlier this month, the Pentagon announced plan to send at least 1000 soldiers to train terrorists in special training camps in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey.
The move affirms the US insistence to keep supporting the terrorists which serve its agenda in the region.
Within the framework of the strong cooperation with the United States on supporting and spreading terrorism in the region and the world, the authorities of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey had proposed to host special training camps for the terrorists as to send them later to Syria to carry on their crimes.
